Implementation of a new technology for accelerated balanced charging of lead-acid batteries

At the battery production facilities of the WESTA Corporation, a newly developed and patented technology (Patent No. 144273) for accelerated balanced charging of lead-acid batteries has been introduced. This technology was developed by scientists from the Institute of Transport Systems and Technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The essence of this technology lies in extracting information about the battery’s current capacity from its response signal to the charging pulse. This information is obtained in the form of the corresponding response signal area, which reflects the utilization coefficient of the active material in the battery during its formation.

Integrating real-time capacity monitoring into the existing battery formation process significantly improves the quality control of key battery parameters during production. As a result, the quality of commercial batteries is enhanced, while the likelihood of their failure during operation is substantially reduced.
